Since turning pro in 2019, Mao Saigo has won six career titles. She started participating in the LPGA of Japan Tour in 2020.

Saigo is a Japanese professional golfer with over five years of experience in the LPGA Tour. She has won six career titles, including the Daikin Orchid Ladies Golf Tournament on March 6, 2022.

Mao is competing at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, a tournament being played at Quizhong Garden Golf Club from October 9 to October 13, 2024.

Heading into the last round of the tournament, Saigo grabs a one-shot lead. She is closely followed by her opponents, Yin Ruoning of China and Kim Sei-Young of South Korea.

The penultimate day’s battle between Saigo and Yin was one to watch out for. Yin, the current world number four and reigning Women’s PGA champion, had a strong start in the day’s play.

However, Saigo carded a seven-under-par 65 to clinch a narrow lead against the hometown favorite Yin, setting up an interesting battle on the final day of the competition.

The winner of the tournament will take home a cash prize of $2,100,000.

Saigo, a Japanese golfer, grew up in her hometown of Funabashi, Chiba. She was born in 2001.

Mao’s age as of 2024 is 23. She recently celebrated her birthday on the 8th of October.

Growing up in an Asian household, Saigo was always supported by her Japanese parents in her career pursuit. She was inspired to make something out of a career in golf, which urged her to start playing the sport at an early age.

Saigo completed her college education from Nihon Wellness Sports University in Tone, Japan. She has a height of 5 feet and 3 inches.

Mao Saigo Golf Career & Net Worth

After making her LPGA of Japan Tour debut in 2020, Mao registered seven runner-up finishes in 2021. However, the year 2022 was historic for the young golfer.

Five of Saigo’s six LPGA of Japan Tour wins came in 2022. In fact, she recorded all five wins in 12 weeks between March and May. She had three wins and two second-place finishes in the first six tournaments which pushed her Women’s World Golf Rankings to 18.

Mao’s first tournament win came in the Daikin Orchid Ladies Golf Tournament on the 6th of March. She then grabbed a win at the AXA Ladies Golf Tournament in Miyazaki on the 27th of March.

Later on April 3, 2022, Mao won the Yamaha Ladies Open Katsuragi. She then won the Panasonic Open Ladies Golf Tournament on the 1st of May, followed by the Bridgestone Ladies Open on the 22nd of May.

Saigo’s sixth LPGA Tour win came at the Itoen Ladies Golf Tournament on November 12, 2023.

So far, Mao has managed official career earnings of $1.3 million.

Saigo hasn’t hinted anything when it comes to her relationship life. The 23-year-old golfer is presumably single as of now.

Although Mao likes to maintain privacy, she can be seen active on social networking sites, especially Instagram. She has over 41.1k Instagram followers, who are keen to see updates from the golfer’s personal and professional life.
