Stephen Richer and his wife were colleagues at The University of Chicago Law School. After dating for a while, they exchanged their wedding vows in August 2020.

Richer is the Maricopa County Recorder in Arizona. He is also a member of the Republican Party.

Stephen started his tenure as the Maricopa County Recorder on January 1, 2021, after defeating the Democratic incumbent Adrian Fontes. His term will end on January 1, 2025.

In his current position, he is responsible for public documents recordation, voter registration, and mail voting in Maricopa County, Arizona. He previously worked at conservative organizations like the American Enterprise Institute and The Federalist Society.

Richer was also a business person and a transactional attorney. He was active as an associate at Steptoe & Johnson LLP.
